    Why It Matters

Know How Strong Your Password Really Is

Not all passwords are created equal. Length and variety of characters matter far more than swapping a letter for a symbol. This checker measures the actual strength of a password by estimating its entropy — how unpredictable it is — and roughly how long it would take to crack.

Use it to test your passwords or teach good habits. And rest assured: nothing you type is transmitted — the check happens entirely on your device.

    Questions About This Tool

Yes. The password is analyzed entirely in your browser using JavaScript — it is never sent over the internet, stored, or logged anywhere.

Length above all, followed by a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols. A long passphrase of random words is often stronger than a short complex one.

Entropy measures how unpredictable a password is, in bits. More bits means exponentially more guesses needed to crack it. Above 60 bits is strong; 80+ is very strong.

It's a rough estimate assuming a fast offline attacker making billions of guesses per second. It's meant to illustrate relative strength, not a precise guarantee.
